Not bad. Rather short and casual on the whole. And if you're going to be silly you may as well go all the way, so I appreciate that the premise does not take itself seriously. My one complaint about the gameplay was that there was nothing that could be done about enemies that spawn in the corner.

Learning curve is a bit steep. As it isn't obvious right away that you are attacked by both other swordsmen and ranged attackers, nor is it obvious that you get a mercy on the first blow. I still love the sensory mechanic and the heartbeat soundtrack, both do a good job of emphasizing the premise.

Fun concept and a decent challenge. The music and art are both very well done but I have to admit I take some umbrage with the control set up. I would have much preferred a horizontal control scheme as it's more comfortable to orient my fingers that way. This is still one of the better put together games with no major technical problems, but it's held back by an uncomfortable choice in control scheme.

Thanks Wyatt!
There's 5 different schemes to control our game
ZAQ / ZXC / 258
Tap/click on the left screen area (best for mobile)
Tap/click on each Cat (extremely hard.)

But you're not the only one complaining about that so we surely (for desktop) will add an option to choose freely what key to use for each cat.

Thank you for your valuable feedback!

Very nice. Art and music are great for one. At first I thought the splitting and touching mechanic were roundabout ways to do the "switch-between-characters" mechanic, but it did make more sense given how each section was meant to be played by a separate piece rather than switch between all of them. Though I might recommend you polish that mechanic if you ever decide to expand this game.

Now that said the very nature of them having to be done piece-by-piece does make it feel like wasted potential for the idea of being able to carry and throw other pieces, but that's not a serious detriment. Something I did notice though is during the end scene it can be interrupted if the player tries to move, so you may want to disable player control entirely during that last scene.

Overall a solid piece.

Not bad at all. Artwork I have mixed feelings on but the game is still fun and catchy. You may consider mixing things up with your music more but it's not bad.

Now I did notice a few hitbox problems with some parts, nothing that kept me from completing a level but they were there, and I'm not sure if Splash Duck being able to shoot through boxes was intentional or not, but it is weird given how it blocks everything else. Solid entry though.

Butzbo responds:

That's an interesting point, I originally planned the water-shot to be blocked by the box (just like walls and Brick-Duck do), but I guess I forgot doing it, which is interesting because right now the box works as a good cover to shoot through, which may be one alternative to solve a few parts, still, I find it more consistent if it stops them, so I'll check that out.
Thanks for your comments! :)

Very good

Pros:
A great environmental puzzle game. It forces players to think about solutions, or even for the gamers who aren't heavy thinkers; it doesn't punish people who prefer a guess and test approach. the visual effects are nice as well. Good music choice.

Cons:
It never felt like there was much variation in levels, the background always had the exact same color scheme and rotated the same patterns. While the music is good, it also loans itself to lacking variety.

A great game with creative gameplay with only some slight visual and audio choices called into question.

Out of this World!

Pros:
The graphics, sounds, and other visual effects are amazing. The characters look quite three dimensional, and the levels are visually appealing. The gameplay is also pretty solid, the jumping and dashing work smoothly most of the time and the bonuses for chaining multiple jumps really give the players something to challenge themselves with.

Cons:
Sometimes the dash can be activated unintentionally, and the only other major problem is that the lack of a tutorial can easily frustrate players who haven't adjusted to the physics of the game yet.

Overall you have an absolutely fantastic game that gives us something both aesthetically pleasing and fun to play.

Needs polishing, but good

The idea of teleporting to an item that the player can place is good, and the green and red colors make for clear distinctions of environmental hazards.

Main thing is that the levels are really huge, either downsizing them or adding checkpoints cuts down on the frustration for the player. Second the control layout is rather awkward on the keyboard. the standard W, A, S, D is tried and true, or even just altering the grab and teleport buttons. Lastly consider adding some music.

With just a few tweaks you have a great game coming up here.

An inspiration to budding game developers

Pros:
You took Mario as fans know him (art style, music, enemies, power ups and all) and threw it into a blender with a different style of art and music that complimented each other in a fresh way and still did the original justice.

Cons:
The physics are by no means terrible, but at times adds to frustration, water level steepens the learning curve a bit.

Overall it's a fresh take on the Mario we know and love without corrupting him and turning him into something he's not.

Scientists aren't the only ones who stand on the shoulders of giants. Game developers of today must be ready to carry the torch as well.
